Following early success in China, Huawei-backed Maextro debuts ‘Grand Design’ variant of S800 to better fight Maybach.

Finished in two-tone finish, S800 Grand Design is expected to retail between 1.6 million and 2 million yuan ($235,300—$294,100).

S800 Grand Design distinguishes itself with extensive gold detailing, including gold-finished logos on the fenders, C-pillars, wheels, and rear tailgate.

As of May, the Maextro S800 has been China’s best-selling luxury car priced above $100,000 for eight consecutive months.

Following the initial success of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class rival in the Chinese market since deliveries began in August 2025, the Huawei-JAC-backed luxury brand Maextro has launched the Grand Design Collector’s Edition of its S800 sedan.

Positioned as an ultra-luxury variant of the flagship S800 sedan—which is priced between 708,000 and 1.02 million yuan ($101,300—$145,600)—the S800 Grand Design is expected to retail between 1.6 million and 2 million yuan ($235,300—$294,100).

The Grand Design Collector’s Edition distinguishes itself from the base car with a two-tone Silver and Blue-Green exterior finish as well as extensive gold detailing, including gold-finished logos on the fenders, C-pillars, wheels, and rear tailgate.

Like the standard Maextro S800, the Grand Design measures 5,480 mm in length, 2,000 mm in width, and 1,536 mm in height, with a 3,370 mm wheelbase. It will be available in both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) versions.

At the launch of the Maextro S800 Grand Design Collector’s Edition, Richard Yu, chairman of Huawei’s Consumer Business Group, announced that cumulative deliveries of the standard S800 have surpassed 19,000 units since its launch in May 2025.

As of May, the Maextro S800 has been China’s best-selling luxury car priced above $100,000 for eight consecutive months. The flagship vehicle from the Huawei-backed Maextro brand continues to outperform rival models from Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, and BMW.
