The owner of what is believed to be Nigeria’s first-ever Yangwang U8 has showcased the advanced automatic valet parking capabilities of his luxury electric SUV. The vehicle is produced by Yangwang, the high-end sub-brand of BYD.
In an online video spotted by Autojosh, a driver is seen exiting a Yangwang U8 to allow the smart SUV to park itself independently. As shown in the footage, the vehicle successfully completes the automated parking maneuver with no one behind the wheel or in the passenger cabin
The U8 sees everything around it—thanks to its Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) and 38 smart sensors that make parking easier and every drive safer.
It is equipped with four electric motors for an estimated total power output of over 1,100 horsepower. Its powertrain allows U8 to accelerate to 62 mph from rest in 3.6 seconds.
Its modest 49kWh battery-pack and a 268bhp 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine—which acts purely as a range extender—allows a total range of around 620 miles (998 kilometres) on the Chinese test cycle.
Inside, the Yangwang U8 gets a 23.6-inch instrument cluster for the driver, a 12.8-inch portrait-oriented driver’s touchscreen, and a 23.6-inch infotainment screen for the front passenger. Rear passengers gets two screens mounted to the back of the front seats and another screen mounted on the console between the rear seats.
