Built To Drive Across A Lake : Dreaded Lagos flood is no match to Jetour G700 ‘Ark Edition’ plug-in hybrid SUV. 

Unlike the base 5-door G700, the G700 Ark Edition navigates water using propellers powered by its plug-in hybrid powertrain.

Following the unveiling, Jetour demonstrated the G700’s water-wading capabilities by conducting a public crossing of a lake near Beijing. 

Jetour has unveiled the G700 Ark Edition, an amphibious version of the standard G700 that Jetour Nigeria officially launched into the lucrative Nigerian automotive market earlier this year.

Unlike the base 5-door G700, the G700 Ark Edition navigates water using propellers. A plug-in hybrid powertrain—combining a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine and two electric motors—powers the system.

Following the unveiling, Jetour demonstrated the G700’s water-wading capabilities by conducting a public crossing of a lake near Beijing, proving the plug-in hybrid SUV could do more than cruising on the highway.

In several videos and photos online seen by Autojosh, the G700 Ark Edition was seen elegantly crossing the Yanqi Lake in north of Beijing, a body of water that is larger than any flash floods seen after torrential rainfall in Lagos.

While in Float mode, the plug-in hybrid system redirects its power away from the wheels to specialized electric propellers, enabling the vehicle to propel itself across water more effectively.

But Jetour emphasizes that this cutting-edge feature in the G700 Ark Edition is designed strictly for emergency situations like flash floods, rather than everyday boating.

When the plug-in hybrid system is not powering the propellers, it allows the G700 Ark Edition to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.6 seconds. It also offers a total driving range of 497 to 621 miles (800 to 1,000 km).
