Dreaded Lagos Flood Is No Match For BYD’s Yangwang U8 SUV That Can Drive On Water For 30 Minutes
The dreaded Lagos flood is no match for BYD’s Yangwang U8 SUV that can drive on water for 30 minutes.
Yangwang U8 Emergency Float Mode, which kicks on during emergencies, initiates a list of life-saving features.
While the Emergency Float Mode is activated, the all-electric SUV can drive, steer and perform U-turns in water.
In several videos online, U8 had been seen elegantly using its wheels as propellers to drive across a body of water.

The dreaded flash floods in Lagos, especially in the Lekki area of the State, is no match for BYD’s Yangwang U9, a stunning $150,000 electric SUV that can drive on water for up to 30 minutes.
While it is yet to be seen on the Nigeria road, the YangWang U8 had already garnered attention for some its cutting-edge features, including its ability to drive sideways and make a 360-degree tank turn.

But the most stunning feature of the flagship SUV is the extraordinary life-saving Emergency Float Mode – which allows it to float and drive (swim) in water or flood for up to 30 minutes.

According to BYD, the Emergency Float Mode, which kicks on during emergencies, initiates a list of life-saving features, including the closing of windows and the opening the sunroof to let air in.
While the Emergency Float Mode is activated, the all-electric SUV can drive, steer and perform U-turns in water, providing passengers with a quick and safe passage to solid ground.

In several videos and photos online seen by Autojosh, the YangWang U8 had been seen elegantly floating on water or using its wheels as propellers to drive across a body of water that are larger than any flash floods seen after torrential rainfall in Lagos.
“Emergency Floating Mode allows for the navigation through water during emergencies, by initiating a quick engine shutdown, raising the suspension elevation, closing windows, opening the sunroof, and displaying water depth and vehicle position on the central control screen.”
