BMW has announced the production of its 50,000th BMW iX3—the brand’s first Neue Klasse model—just nine months after series production began at the BMW Group Plant Debrecen in Hungary, marking the fastest plant ramp-up in the company’s history.

Following the start of the first series-production of the Neue Klasse BMW iX3 in late October 2025, BMW introduced a second shift in February 2026, which significantly accelerated the 50,000-unit production milestone in July 2026.

“The 50,000th BMW iX3 underscores the capabilities of our plant in Debrecen: Never before have we built so many vehicles so quickly at a new plant. This milestone is the result of an outstanding team effort,” said Raymond Wittmann, who is responsible for Production at BMW AG.

BMW stated that the rapid ramp-up responds to high demand for the iX3 since its market launch, adding that the company “is on track to soon reach the next important milestone of 100,000 incoming orders.”

“The production of the 50,000th BMW iX3 reflects the dedication and expertise of our team. As the home of the first series-produced Neue Klasse model, Plant Debrecen is helping shape the future of the BMW Group’s global production network,” Hans-Peter Kemser, President and CEO of BMW Group Plant Debrecen, added.

This milestone comes just a few months after the BMW iX3 won both the overall “World Car of the Year” and “World Electric Vehicle” titles at the 2026 World Car Awards (WCA) held at the New York International Auto Show, where it edged out the Hyundai Palisade and Nissan Leaf.
