Audi Reveals How The Nuvolari Went From Sketch To Drivable Prototype In 405 Days

Audi has released a 20-minute behind-the-scenes documentary showcasing the development of the Nuvolari from an initial sketch to a fully drivable prototype in just 405 days, highlighting the brand’s remarkable speed in modern vehicle development
In the video, Audi traces the project’s journey from its initial concept sketches through development, extreme-weather testing, and high-speed validation at Nardò, Italy, with Audi Revolut F1 Team drivers Gabriel Bortoleto and Nico Hülkenberg behind the wheel.

“The Nuvolari project is a striking example of how quickly we at Audi can bring an idea to life—that is ‘Vorsprung durch Technik,’” said Audi CEO Gernot Döllner, referring to the brand’s iconic German slogan, which translates to “Progress Through Technology.”

With 1,001 PS (987 horsepower) and a top speed of more than 217 mph (350 km/h), the Formula 1-inspired Nuvolari is Audi’s most powerful vehicle and the Four Ring’s fastest production vehicle ever.
“The Audi Nuvolari is the fastest and most powerful road car we’ve ever produced,” says Rouven Mohr, who is in charge of Technical Development. Gernot Döllner adds that “We couldn’t have found a more fitting location for the first drive of the Nuvolari”.

Following its world premiere in the South of France on June 4, 2026, and its road debut at the Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix, the Nuvolari made its first public appearance on July 9 at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed, just days after its UK debut in London.
“When the Nuvolari took to the road for the first time, the best part was seeing the expressions on the faces of the people who had developed it,” recalls Gernot Döllner. “Seeing something that had existed only as a sketch come to life for the first time was indescribable.”
