“Wike Carry ‘Rivers’ Come Abuja”: Citizens React As Flash Floods Submerge Luxury Vehicles
“Wike Carry ‘Rivers’ Come Abuja”: Citizens react as severe flash floods submerge luxury vehicles in the Capital city.
Viral videos circulating on social media have documented the scale of the destruction in districts like Wuse 2 and Gudu.
Videos captured in these affluent districts shows expensive sedans and SUVs completely submerged up to their roofs.

Torrential downpours across Abuja, the Nigerian Federal Capital Territory (FCT), on Saturday, August 15, 2026, triggered severe flash floods, submerging numerous vehicles and bringing major commuter corridors to a total standstill.
Viral videos circulating on social media have documented the scale of the destruction, with several clips showing shocking scenes in affluent districts like Wuse 2 and Gudu, where expensive sedans and SUVs were completely submerged.

One widely shared video, reportedly captured at the Delight Event Centre in Gudu, shows several parked vehicles submerged by severe flash floods, trapping numerous motorists and residents.
As expected, online outrage has targeted the administration for poor drainage infrastructure, with many focusing on FCT Minister Nyesom Wike through the viral phrase “Wike Carry ‘Rivers’ Come Abuja” tracked in video comment sections by Autojosh.

This satirical jab carries a clever double meaning, referencing both the minister’s former role as a two-term Governor of Rivers State and the literal rivers of floodwater currently overtaking the capital’s streets.
