Mazda’s first fully electric car, the Mazda MX-30 crossover SUV, boasts Rolls-Royce rear hinged doors and a 130 miles range.

Japanese automaker, Mazda, has unveiled its first electric car, the MX-30 crossover SUV, at the ongoing 46th Tokyo Motor Show.
One prominent feature of the MX-30 is its unique center-pillar-less “Freestyle doors” with custom-designed hinges that allow the front doors to open to 82° and rear doors to open to 80°.

It is similar to the rear hinged doors found in Rolls-Royce cars. These special doors not only makes entering and exiting the MX-30 easier, but it also provides easier access for wheelchairs.
Mazda MX-30 is powered by Skyactiv powertrain, pumping out 143 horsepower and 195lb ft. The 35.5-kWh lithium-ion battery pack will go 130 miles before needing a charge from a 6.6kW domestic charging port.

Inside, it has a 7-inch touchscreen that controls many applications and features, including the A.C (a first for a Mazda and safety systems. It also features a pair of 2.5A USB ports and a 12V DC power socket which can be used to charge a smartphone, tablet or some other device.
The MX-30 comes with series of safety systems which Mazda calls the i-Activsense. These includes the Smart Brake Support that helps to prevent collisions at intersections. This tech will help to keep drivers on track on roads with curbs or discernable edges.
The pricing of the MX-30 crossover SUV is not available yet. It will reach the dealerships in the second half of 2020.
