But the prospect for a Mercedes-badged Electric G-Wagon first came six years ago in 2018 when Austrian-born Arnold Schwarzenegger put pressure on former Daimler Boss to do the project.
The Ex-California governor and Terminator movie star had in 2017 gotten behind the wheels of a custom-built battery-powered Mercedes-Benz G-Class built by Austrian-based Kreisel Electric.

At the unveiling, Kreisel Electric, which beats Mercedes to the EV punch, claims its electric G-Class maintains the famous off-road abilites found on the Mercedes G-Wagon.
Changes made to Schwarzenegger’s G-Class includes the replacement of the diesel engine with an electric powertrain, while the exterior were fitted with Kreisel badges. No change is made to the cabin except for new set of gauges in the instrument panel.
While the 2025 G 580 with EQ Technology” goes up to 473 kilometres (294 miles) with its 116.0 kWh battery-pack, Kreisel’s 80 kilowatt-hour battery-packs allows 300 kilometres (186 miles) of range before needing a recharge.
