BMW Launches Limited-edition ALPINA B3 AWD To Celebrate 50 Years In South Africa

BMW launches ALPINA B3 50 Years of BMW South Africa edition to celebrate 50 years in South Africa.

BMW Group’s plant in South Africa is the brand’s first BMW plant outside its home country of Germany.

Limited to just five units, the special Alpina B3 model will only be made available to customers in South Africa.

According to the brand, the planned units have been sold and will be handed over to their owners this December 2023.

BMW Group has launched an extra-special ALPINA B3 AWD to celebrate 50 years since it founded its BMW plant in South Africa, the brand’s first BMW plant outside its home country of Germany.

Limited to just five units, the ALPINA B3 50 Years of BMW South Africa edition will only be made available to customers in South Africa. According to the brand, the planned units have been sold and will be handed over to their owners this December 2023.

On the outside, the special-edition ALPINA B3 50 Years of BMW South Africa model bears the company’s distinctive anniversary logo and finished only in the signature ALPINA Green II metallic paint.

Other exterior details include an ALPINA CLASSIC 20-inch forged wheels, ALPINA’s high-performance sport chassis and exhaust system, a silver ALPINA lettering on the front spoiler and the ALPINA B3 model designation.

Celebratory touches inside includes the BMW Group South Africa 50 Years anniversary logo embroidered in the front seat headrests, while a plaque on the centre console declares each unit as one of five “50 Years an Icon, BMW South Africa” cars.

Powering the BMW ALPINA B3 AWD is a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder inline engine with two ALPINA specific mono-scroll turbochargers that produces 488 horsepower.

It is mated to an eight-speed Sport-Automatic transmission, allowing it to cover the 0-100km/h (0-60 mph) sprint in 3.6 seconds before going on to a top speed of 190 mph (305 km/h).
