BMW Preparing And Electric Version Of The X7 (iX7) For Next Year
BMW is preparing to launch its largest electric car yet—the iX7, an electric version of the popular X7 SUV. The new vehicle is expected next year and should be available for sale in 2027.
The iX7 will not bring radical design changes. The model will retain the recognizable shape of the X7. It will differ from the standard version in terms of a closed front grille, iX7 badging, and the lack of exhaust pipes. Both versions will use a modified platform for large BMW SUVs, which allows for the simultaneous production of gasoline and electric models.
Despite the adapted platform, the iX7 brings advanced technology. An 800-volt architecture is expected with a battery pack likely in excess of 100 kWh, which should provide a range similar to the smaller iX3—more than 800 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle. Standard equipment will include two electric motors and all-wheel drive, and the most powerful version could exceed 800 horsepower.
The cabin will feature the latest BMW technology, including the Panoramic iDrive media system and a head-up display. But entry into the world of BMW’s largest electric SUV won’t come cheap—the price won’t drop below six figures.
