President Buhari Launches 3 Combat Helicopters In Abuja (Photos)
President Muhammadu Buhari has successfully launched two Agusta 109P helicopter Gunship and one MI-171 Medium Lift helicopter today in Abuja. The launching of the helicopters took place at the Eagle Square in Abuja, Nigeria.
The launching took place during the induction ceremony of the Nigerian Air Force’s at the state capital. During the event of the launching, several air displays and simulation exercise were carried out. These displays and exercises focused on rescue operations and engagement of bandits and others threats to national security.
President Buhari in his address said his government would not fail the trust Nigerians reposed in him. In addition, he said the diversification of the economy to the non-oil sector was another priority for his government.
“About a year ago, I also inducted two Agusta helicopters into the air force. These aircraft will assist the air force in the tackling of the contemporary security challenges facing our country,” the President added.

The helicopters will strengthen the arsenal of NAF to fight against the insurgency in the country. According to Bashir Ahmad, NAF has procured 22 fighter aircrafts and gunship helicopters, and 17 additional aircrafts are expected. Bashir Ahmad is President Buhari’s Personal Assistant on New Media.
