China Unveils 600km/h Maglev Train That Could Slash Travelling Time Between Beijing-Shanghai By 2 Hours
China unveils 600km/h Maglev train capable of slashing travelling time between Beijing and Shanghai By 2 hours.
Developed by State-owned CRRC, the Maglev train lift few millimetres above their guideways when traveling.
This eliminates friction and allowing it to travel at far greater speeds than normal trains that rolls on tracks.
When it enter commercial service, Maglev are expected to “fill the speed gap between high-speed rail and aviation within 2,000km”.

A prototype of Chinese-built high-speed Magnetic Levitation (MAGLEV) transportation system capable of running 373 mph (600 kilometers per hour) has made its public debut at the 17th Modern Railways exhibition in Beijing.
Developed by China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC), the Maglev train lift millimetres above their guide ways while in operation, unlike the normal trains, which rarely exceed 200mph and rolls on tracks. This eliminates physical contact with the track and allow Maglev train to travel at far greater speeds.
The first phase of engineering was completed in July last year, though representatives of the State-owned CRRC said more route and safety tests will be carried out before the Maglev train enters commercial service.
To put it perspective, superfast maglev with a top speed of 600km/h travelling the 1,200km distance between Beijing and Shanghai could slash the present travel time of 5 hrs 30 minutes to as little as 2 hrs 30 minutes.
When they enter commercial service, Senior CRRC engineer Shao Nan told The Paper that these super-fast Maglev are expected to “fill the speed gap between high-speed rail and aviation within 2,000km”.
“This model is equipped with a fully automated driving function … [which] requires integrating a variety of technologies such as 5G communication, AI video capture, acoustic sensing, and the deployment of various types of sensors along the line,” Shao told The Paper.
