New Defender Mods launches “Tank Edition” kit that turns Land Rover Defender SUV into ultimate off-roading tank.
Defender is converted into an off-roading tank by mounting four bolt-on tank tracks on the existing wheel mounting points.
The company says installing/removing the tank tracks will be as simple as changing all of the four tyres on the Defender.
Tuning Company, New Defender Mods has revealed its new “Tank Edition” kit that replaces all four wheels on the Land Rover Defender with tank tracks, giving popular British-made SUV more freedom in rough terrains.
The company’s ‘world’s first 4 wheel conversion kit includes adaptor hub adapters. Each of the New Defender Mods’ track weigh in at around 350 pounds and are 16 inches wide.
The Land Rover Defender is converted into an off-roading tank simply by mounting the four bolt-on tank tracks on the existing wheel mounting points without any modifications to the suspension.
The company notes that installing and removing the tank tracks will be nearly as simple as changing all of the four tyres on the Land Rover Defender SUV.
While the Land Rover Defender V8 has a top speed of 149 mph (240 km/h) while riding on four tyres, the SUV’s maximum speed is limited to approximately 40 mph (64 km/h) when fitted with the tracks.
“The Defender Tank Edition is the culmination of a passion by New Defender Mods to push the New Defender beyond what most think is possible and then some, and we are thrilled to finally bring the concept to market,” said Ben, the company’s CEO.
Pricing of New Defender Mods’ “Tank Edition” conversion kit hasn’t been revealed, but the company hopes to introduce the accessory in late 2023. It notes that a waitlist has already been set up for interested customers.
