Cupra Will Reevaluate Entering The US Market
Last July, the Volkswagen Group announced that it would delay the launch of the Cupra in the United States. It was due to arrive there by 2030 with a range of hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and petrol cars, but “continuing challenges” and “evolving market dynamics” have forced the carmaker to delay those plans. However, he did not completely cancel them.
In an interview with Edmunds, Cecilia Tayeb, Cupra’s global head of communications, said, “We’re holding off on when we’ll be there.” She did not give a time frame for when that could happen, but the brand still wants to enter the American market, Motor1 points out.
Cupra CEO Markus Haupt said he would reconsider entering the US market “once things stabilize a bit” in the geopolitical sphere. Meanwhile, it is working to expand its presence in the Middle East. Cupra’s expansion into the US is something the brand “can use in the future.”
Cupra announced at the beginning of 2025 that it would partner with Penske to open as many as 20 showrooms. A few months later, they announced that they would be delaying the launch in the United States.
