DeLorean Alpha5 EV Production Run Slashed To 4,000 Units Due To Supply Bottlenecks
Gullwing DeLorean Alpha5 2-door EV production run slashed to 4,000 units due to supply bottlenecks.
DeLorean initially planned to build 9,351 units of the 2-door EV, with production expected to start in 2024.
The Alpha5 can now be reserved at a discounted price of $2,500. But this price rises to $3,500 once the offer ends.
For every 500 units ordered after that, the price will increase by an additional $500, according to report.
Last May, DeLorean released fresh details and images of its Alpha5 EV, a futuristic coupe with gullwing doors designed by Italdesign, quoting a 0-60 (0 to 97 km/h) time of 2.99 seconds, a top speed of 155 mph (249 km/h) and an estimated range of over 300 miles with a 100+ kWh battery.
DeLorean Motor Company initially planned to build 9,351 units of the 2-door Alpha5 EVs, with production expected to start some time in 2024. But now, the original figures has now been cut down to just 4,000 units “due to supply-chain bottlenecks.”

The initial production run of 9,531 units is just one more than DMC built of the original DeLorean, with CNET estimating a price of around $125,000 for the Alpha5.
