Did You Know : Volkswagen Beetle (Type 1) and the Transporter aka Kombi (Type 2) are basically the same car. 

VW Beetle, officially called T1 and the Transporter, officially named T2, are two of the best-selling car models ever.

Original Beetle became the best-selling model in 1972, after the 15,007,034th example rolled off the assembly line.

In all, over 21.5 million examples of the rear-engine car were built between 1938 and 2003, of which 330,251 Cabriolet.





The Volkswagen Transporter Type 2 (T1) was the first generation of Volkswagen’s Transporter family.

Now in its 7th generation, the first Transporter was initially derived from the original Volkswagen Beetle (Type 1).

The Volkswagen Type 2 is the best-selling van in history, with over 12 million units sold worldwide.

The Volkswagen Beetle, officially called the T1 and known here as Ijakpa (Tortoise) and the Transporter, officially named T2 and popularly known as Vanagon and Combi, are two of the best-selling and most successful car models ever.

The original Beetle, a two-door economy car with distinctive rounded rear-end, became the best-selling model on February 17th 1972, after the 15,007,034th example rolled off the assembly line in Germany.





Its status as the best-selling vehicle in the car industry stood for 25 years until 1997 when it was overtaken by the Toyota Corolla. In all, over 21.5 million examples of the rear-engine car were built between 1938 and 2003, of which 330,251 Cabriolet.

One the other hand, the Volkswagen Type 2 (T1) was the first generation of Volkswagen’s Transporter family.
Now in its seventh generation, the first Transporter was initially derived from the original Volkswagen Beetle (Type 1).

Officially known as Combi, the Transporter (Type 2), informally known as Bus in US, Camper in UK, Bulli in Germany, is the best-selling van in history, with over 12 million units sold worldwide.

Available in several variants including vans, minivans, minibuses, pickups and campervans, its competitors include the Ford Transit, Toyota HiAce and Mercedes-Benz Vito.
