Amid ongoing nationwide #EndBadGovernance Protests, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced a 25% fare slash on all government-owned transport schemes, including BRT, Blue Line Train and Ferry, aimed at providing relief and comfort to the populace.

In addition, Governor Sanwo-Olu also announced the reintroduction of Sunday markets with 25% discount on food items plus free medical outreach treatment.

Sanwo-Olu, who made this known in a statement signed by Commissioner for Information in the state, Gbenga Omotoso, hailed Lagosians for choosing to embrace peace while expressing their views and constitutional right to protest.

“The message of the protest – hunger in the land – has also been well noted. It is, however, important to reiterate the fact that the Federal Government is taking steps to reverse the situation.

“On our part, as Mr. Governor has promised, the popular Sunday Markets will return with its 25% discount on all major food items. The Medical Outreach, which offered thousands of our people treatment free of any charge whatsoever, will also return.

“The 25% slash in fares on all our transport facilities will continue. So will all the other measures we have put in place to relieve Lagosians of the burden of these times.”

Sanwo-Olu enjoined Lagosians to go about their businesses without any fear, adding that Security agents will continue to ensure that Lagos is safe and that businesses can operate without any harassment.

The reintroduction of the 25% fare rebate comes just two months after the State Government ended it on June 2nd, 2024, which was introduced as part of measures to cushion the effect of removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government.
