A statement by the Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau said keys to the 20 LTAVs were handed over to the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa during a brief ceremony held on 8th May 2024.
According to Brigadier General Gusau, “the APCs are improved versions with improved weapons and communication systems that can locate adversaries from a distance and engage them effectively,” adding that “they also allow for seamless military operations.”
In addition to the sales of the APCs, Epail’s chairman, Engineer Kola Balogun, said the company will also train operators and provide after-purchase services like maintenance, spare parts, and repairs.
EPAIL Nigeria’s chairman further revealed that the company will soon start the exportation of these Light Tactical Armoured Vehicles (LTAVs) to bring foreign investment to the country.
The company first showcased its cutting-edge EP2063NG01 during the prestigious 24th Combat Support Services Training Week at Abalti barracks Lagos State Nigeria 2023.
The Epail’s EP2063NG01 is based on the Chinese-made Dongfeng Mengshi (Warrior) CSK131 4×4 armored vehicles, early generations of which were built with imported Hummer H1 chassis.
It will be recalled that dozens of the Chinese-made 5-passenger Dongfeng Mengshi (Warrior) CSK131 4×4 armored vehicles were delivered to Nigeria in November 2021.
Like the CSK131, Epail’s EP2063NG01 comes with onboard computers with digital map software, satellite communication and positioning system, one night-vision camera for driver and one for the rear door.
