Fake vehicle insurance and how to check your vehicle status

So this guy called in yesterday that his car had been seized by Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO). Their reason was invalid vehicle insurance.
Also, the owner of the car was not sure he had a genuine insurance. How sure can you be especially with third party insurance policies from those roadside guys.
I asked him for his vehicle registration and insurance policy number; searched the Nigerian Insurance Industry Database (NIID) and his record was not found.
Please note that several third party insurance policies in Nigeria are fake. As a third party insurance user, always ensure your insurance company updates your record to the industry database.
Finally, be sure you are not carrying a fake vehicle insurance policy by checking here… http://www.askniid.org/CheckPolicy.aspx
