Ferrari stops taking orders for its Purosangue as high demand for $380,000 SUV sends waiting lists to two years.

The brand disclosed that it doesn’t want the model to make up more than 20% of its overall sales to retain its exclusivity.

Purosangue starts at £313,120 ($379,658) in the UK, making it $165,000 more expensive than the Lamborghini Urus.

Ferrari has temporarily stopped taking orders for its Purosangue as high demand for the six-figure SUV has sent waiting lists for some customers to around two years, Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer Enrica Galliera told Australian publication, Drive.

The 715-horsepower Purosangue will likely hit the market in 2023 as a new model for the Ferrari lineup as well as the Italian supercar maker’s first SUV.

When Ferrari unveiled the Purosangue in September, the brand disclosed that it doesn’t want the model to make up more than 20 percent of its overall sales in order to retain its exclusivity.

“It’s no secret that we stopped taking orders. We had such an interest without delivering one single car,” Galliera was quoted as saying by the Australian website.

“We made a decision that we thought was consistent with the positioning of Ferrari and the model,” he added.

The all-new Purosangue starts at £313,120 ($379,658) in the UK, making the Ferrari four-door, four-seater Crossover $165,000 more expensive than the Lamborghini Urus SUV.

Powered by a naturally-aspirated 6.5-liter V-12 engine, the Purosangue will go from standstill to 62 mph in just 3.3 seconds and on to a top speed of 193 mph.

The Italian brand prioritises existing customers when taking orders for new models. Waiting lists for new Ferrari sports cars normally run between 18 months and 24 months.
