Formula 1 Has Canceled Races In Saudi Arabia And Bahrain
Formula 1 races in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain scheduled for April will most likely be canceled due to the conflict in the Middle East, Sky Sports reported.
This will shorten the 2026 season to a total of 22 races.
The fourth race of the new season was originally scheduled to take place in Bahrain from April 10 to 12 and, a week later, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. However, both countries are among the Gulf states hit by Iranian attacks in retaliation for US-Israeli air strikes, further increasing the security risk.
The FIA and Formula 1 have said safety is a priority, and the situation in the region has not improved in recent days. There are no plans to replace the cancelled races on the already full March-December calendar, meaning the season will consist of 22 races.
The cancellation of the April round also means a five-week break between the race in Japan from March 27 to 29 and the race in Miami from May 1 to 3.
So far, the FIA and Formula 1 have not made an official comment regarding the cancellation of the races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
