Foxconn Seeking To Take Renault’s Share Of Nissan
Who will walk away with (part of) Nissan? It is the big question hanging over the market now that Renault wants to get rid of its stake and Nissan itself seems to be in a bad way. Besides Honda, the Taiwanese production giant Foxconn also seems interested in Nissan.
Foxconn has been making advances towards the automotive world for a long time and wants to or will collaborate with all kinds of parties, whether it concerns EV development or the production of new car models. In the misery of Nissan, the Taiwanese company seems to see a new opportunity.
According to Reuters, which itself cites the Taiwanese press agency, a top manager of Foxconn is in France to talk to Renault about the shares that the brand has in Nissan. At the moment, the French still own 36 percent of Nissan, but the French want to get rid of most of that. If Foxconn is indeed speeding up its talks with Renault, then that is not surprising. Everything indicates that Honda is also eyeing Nissan for a transaction that it formally calls a merger and that therefore goes a step further than the takeover of a few shares.
