A motorist who converted their vehicle to use Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) has shared their testimony to encourage Nigerians to go for the cheaper and eco-friendly alternative to the Premium Motor Spirit (petrol).

In an article published in Vanguard Newspaper and PM News seen by Autojosh, titled with “From Fuel Frustration to Financial Freedom : A Real-Life testimony by Tayo Ogunjobi,” the motorist explained how a game-changing call from a friend inspired the move.

“When fuel subsidy was removed, i watched my monthly fuel cost skyrocket from N40,000 to almost N300,000. Every visit to the fuel station became a source of anxiety.”

“Then came a game-changing call from a friend who said : “‘I’ve converted my SUV to CNG — I can’t come and die!’”

“That single conversation opened my eyes. I made the switch to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), and it transformed everything.”

“Today, i spend less than N30,000 monthly on fuel. I’ve taken trips across the Southwest on a shoestring :

Lagos to Osogbo — N4,800

Lagos to Ibadan — N3000

Lagos to Abeokuta — N2,900”

“CNG didn’t just cut my costs — it gave me peace of mind. Yes, we need more stations. Yes, there’s room to grow. But if you ask me now? Switching to CNG was the smartest financial decision I’ve monthly on fuel.”

Compared to the scarcity-prone and more expensive petrol and diesel, the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGi) promotes the CNG as a eco-friendly, cost-effective and easily accessible alternative fuel option.
