FRSC Begins Enforcing Speed Limiter, Arrests Seven Motorists
The Federal Road Safety Corps, Osun State, announced on Monday that it has begun enforcing the use of speed limiters, particularly by commercial vehicles.
The command also stated that seven commercial vehicles were impounded for failing to comply with the device’s use in the state.
The Sector Commander, Paul Okpe, stated in an Osogbo statement that the enforcement was intended to reduce road accidents.
Okpe, who urged motorists to approach accredited vendors and have the device installed in their vehicles, also stated that enforcement would continue.
“The Osun Sector Command will go tough on commercial vehicles that do not have the speed limiting device,” he said.
“We seized seven vehicles for violating the speed limiter.” Between December 29, 2021 and January 1, 2022, a total of 33 vehicles will be checked.
“Of the vehicles examined, seven have the device installed. To reduce collisions, we are enforcing the speed limiter more strictly.”
