FRSC Begins Clamp Down On Illegal Use Of Number Plates/Fake Vehicle Registration Numbers

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Monday February 3rd 2025 commenced a special operation to clamp down on illegal use of number plates and fake vehicle registration numbers.

The Special operation targeted vehicles with fake registration numbers and illegal use of number plates by private, commercial, government and diplomatic vehicles.





FRSC notes that the use of fake number plates has become a major security concern in the country. It added that the exercise will continue in all major cities across the country.

“Some citizens have taken it upon themselves to use unauthorised number plates not recognised by law.”

Don’t Make Payments To Touts For Illegal Parking On Bridges, LASG Warn Private Vehicle Owners

The Lagos State Government has warned motorists, especially private vehicle owners, to desist from making illicit payments to touts for illegal parking on bridges and other open spaces across Lagos State.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Hon. Sola Giwa, gave this directive in response to reports that private vehicle owners have been engaging in transactions with street urchins for unauthorized parking privileges at various locations within the metropolis.

Giwa underscored the imperative of strict adherence to government-installed road signage and urban furniture, which explicitly delineate designated “No Parking” zones. He emphasized that noncompliance contributes significantly to congestion and impedes the seamless flow of traffic.

FRSC Recovers 73 Stolen Vehicles In 2024 Through The NVIS Portal, Corolla And Camry Most Stolen

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has announced that it recovered an unprecedented 73 stolen vehicles across the country in the year 2024 through the National Vehicle Identification Scheme (NVIS).

In a statement, the Agency said this remarkable achievement is a testament to its relentless commitment to enhancing national security, strengthening intelligence gathering/sharing as well as enhancing the safety of lives and properties of road users.





According to the Agency, the stolen vehicles were recovered during coordinated intelligence-driven operations conducted by the FRSC in collaboration with other security agencies at the point of registration of the suspected vehicles.

The 73 stolen vehicles recovered are in the category of :

4 Toyota Highlander, 1 Toyota Lexus, 21 Toyota Corolla, 17 Toyota Camry, 6 Toyota Sienna, 6 Lexus 350, 3 Lexus ES350, 1 Toyota Hilux, 1 Toyota RAV4, 1 Toyota Celica, 1 Toyota Venza, 1 Suzuki Bus, 1 Honda Pilot, 1 Honda Ace, 2 Honda Accord, 1 Daihatsu, 1 M/Benz Car, 1 Man Truck, 1 Pontiac Vibe and 2 Qlink Motorcycle.

LASG Deploys ‘Checkpoint’ And ‘E-police’ Sites Across The State For Speed Monitoring And Traffic Violations

To improve traffic management and road safety, the Lagos State Government, in collaboration with Huawei Technologies, has deployed four new Intelligent Transport System (ITS) sites across four locations in the State.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, who announced this during a press briefing on Thursday, said that ITS integrates advanced technologies for real-time traffic monitoring and management.

He also revealed that the new installations across the State will complement the existing Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras and other Traffic Management Solution (TMS) devices.

The Commissioner further revealed that the newly deployed ITS sites consist of two main categories : Checkpoint Sites for Speed Monitoring and the E-police Sites for Traffic Violations.
