Last month, GM’s Fairfax Assembly & Stamping Plant in Kansas City marked America’s 250th birthday and its own 80th anniversary with a spectacular display of red, white, and blue Chevy Bolt Electric Vehicles (EVs), arranged to form a giant American flag and spell out “USA.”

Before being shipped to dealerships and just ahead of the July 4th holiday, the Fairfax team assembled batches of Chevy Bolts to create what Chevrolet says may be the largest American flag ever formed from parked EVs.

In total, 360 American-assembled, American-hued vehicles rolled through the automaker’s 4.8-million-square-foot facility. Of those, 331 were used to form the giant American flag, while the remaining 29 spelled out “USA.”

“When they asked if I could help capture an overhead picture of the cars, I instantly said yes,” said Fairfax team member, Olie Olesen, who rode in a lift to capture the photos. “I knew we had something special when I saw them on the ground, but it was way more spectacular 105 feet in the air!”.

After the Bolt’s brief American flag display, the cars were shipped to dealerships, where hundreds of unsuspecting customers are now waiting to buy Bolts that quietly played a part in this historic automotive milestone.

“Seeing all these red, white, and blue Bolts going through here gave me goosebumps… I mean, how could you not be proud to be an American in a place like this?!,” said Michael Youngs, Fairfax Plant Director.
