Heavy Rainfall Causes Major Road In Akwa-Ibom To Collapse

Commissioner for Works, Mr Ephraim Inyang-Eyen ordered the closure of Hospital Road, at Midim, in Abak Local Government Area, Akwa-Ibom when he went to inspect the collapsed road at Obot Intersection.
The Commissioner said it was the lack of the drainage system in the area that led to the gully erosion that collapsed the road. He also stated that this was one of the reasons why Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa-Ibom had ordered that no road be constructed without a good drainage system.
Mr Ephraim extended the governor’s sympathy to the residents of Abak and Midim village especially and assured that Hensek Nigeria Limited will be mobilized to site at once, to commence emergency remedy work on the road and quickly get it back to use.
All Hospital road users have therefore been advised to take an alternative route.
