Honda Reportedly Delays The Redsigned CR-V Launch To Early 2027
Honda has reportedly delayed the redesigned CR-V launch to early 2027 and canceled plans to build the next-generation Civic sedan in Indiana.
These adjustments impact two of Honda’s highest-volume nameplates in the North American market. For current CR-V shoppers and Civic owners, these reports indicate long-term production realignments rather than an immediate impact on dealer inventory.
According to a supply-chain source cited by Automotive News, Honda has delayed the production of the redesigned CR-V by approximately three months. While some reports suggest a March 2027 commencement, others indicate that mass production may begin in April 2027, with United States hybrid output slated for May 2027 or later.
Honda reduced first-year production for the next-gen CR-V hybrid by 6.7%, opting for a measured rollout. Strong 2026 sales and tight inventory allow Honda to extend the current model’s lifecycle while prioritizing its broader Ohio-based hybrid and EV expansion.
According to recent supply-chain reports, Honda has cancelled its plans to manufacture the next-generation Civic sedan at its facility in Greensburg, Indiana, where production was originally scheduled to commence in May 2028. Public documentation regarding this strategic shift does not specify a projected annual production volume for the factory.
For now, Civic sedan production for the North American market will remain centered in Ontario, Canada. This decision primarily impacts future manufacturing logistics rather than the current availability of the Civic sedan.
Honda hasn’t officially confirmed these production shifts. Reports suggest the redesigned CR-V launch is delayed to 2027, and plans to build the Civic sedan in Indiana have been canceled. Supply chain sources indicate a measured rollout for the CR-V, while current Civic production remains centered in Canada.
