Geely To Make Use Of Renault’s Plant In Brazil To Produce Cars
Geely, one of the largest Chinese car manufacturers, will start producing cars in Brazil in partnership with Renault.
Renault’s factory in São José dos Pinhais, in the state of Paraná, will produce a new electrified Renault model and two Geely models: the EX5 EM-i, a plug-in hybrid, and the electric EX2.
With the new investment, between 2025 and 2027, Renault and Geely will invest a total of 899 million euros in operations in Brazil. Renault and Geely have entered into an agreement according to which the Chinese brand’s cars will be produced at Renault’s factories in Brazil. Geely will use the Renault factory in Paraná and part of the sales and service network.
At the same time, the partnership enables Renault to expand its range of electrified cars. Geely has a 26.4 percent stake in Renault Geely do Brasil, which is responsible for the joint operation of the two brands in the country.
In 2024, Renault and Geely founded Horse, a joint venture for the production of engines and systems for hybrid vehicles and cars with internal combustion engines. Geely also bought a 34 percent stake in Renault Korea, the French manufacturer’s South Korean business, in 2022. Therefore, this cooperation is not a one-off.
