Infiniti Plans A New Rear Wheel Drive V6 Sedan For 2027
With the departure of the Q50 range, there is no sedan in the range. But now comes the good news.
Not only will Infiniti not follow the path of some other brands and remain exclusively on the range of upgraded models, but it has also decided to partially leave electricity aside. Instead of working on an electric novelty, Infiniti decided to offer a successor to the Q50 model.
The plan was originally for the Q50 to inherit an electric model, but due to changes in the market, the manufacturer decided to emphasize the second generation of the Q50 gasoline sedan. And what kind? With a V6 turbo petrol engine up to 450 hp, a manual transmission and rear-wheel drive, and the Nissan Skyline platform, Automotive News learns. At the same time, the novelty will not be intended only for driving purists but will be eye candy for everyone looking for aesthetics and original design.
People familiar with the project say that Infiniti is also considering a sports version of the second-generation Q50 Red Sport. Infiniti Americas vice president Tiago Castro told Automotive News that the redesigned Q50 is “uncompromising and unexpected.”
The new Q50 is expected to hit the market in the second half of 2027. Infiniti has already previewed the Q50S badge at the national dealer meeting in Las Vegas.
As a reminder, Infiniti discontinued the first-generation Q50 in 2024, leaving only four models in the range, all in the form of crossovers and SUVs. Even earlier, in 2022, the only coupe version, the Q60, was discontinued.
