Introduction Of CNG Buses Has Cut Transportation Costs By 30 Percent – LASG
Introduction of CNG buses has cut transportation costs by 30%, offering relief to commuters, according to LASG.
LASG reaffirms it commitment to overhauling the transport and logistics sector through expanded deployment of CNG.
The Lagos State Government says that the introduction of buses powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) has cut transportation costs by at least 30 percent, offering relief to commuters in the State.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Sola Giwa, made this known during a meeting held with the National President of the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO).
At the meeting, he reaffirmed the State Government commitment to overhauling the transport and logistics sector through expanded deployment of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).
Speaking at the meeting, the National President, NARTO, Alhaji Usman Yusuf Lawal, commended the Sanwo-Olu administration for its support, citing other infrastructure projects such as the rail line and food hub initiatives.
He revealed that the Presidential Initiative on CNG has already delivered 20 CNG buses to the state. Lagos has also received additional 50-seater CNG buses, including three newly delivered LPC 50-seater units just three months ago.
Also in attendance at the meeting is Hassan Adekoya, the Senior Special Assistant on Transportation and Logistics, who emphasized the government’s renewed focus on safety in the haulage and logistics sector.
He mentioned that the Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved mandatory substance-abuse tests for all truck drivers in Lagos, alongside free government-funded corrective eyeglasses for drivers diagnosed with vision impairment.
