It’s “Certainly Under Development” To Create A New Tesla Roadster
Tesla is developing the next generation of its highly anticipated electric Roadster, aiming to make it “the best” and “more than just a car,” according to vice president of vehicle engineering Lars Moravi.
When asked about the new Roadster, Moravi said it was “definitely in development” and that the team had discussed it with company founder and CEO Elon Musk.
Moravi also added that Tesla’s team is “preparing for super cool demonstrations.” Earlier this month, Musk announced an “epic demonstration” for the end of the year, after the vehicle engineering team presented the innovations to Tesla’s CEO.
“I think it’s going to be incredible,” Moravi announced.
Recall, Musk wrote on X in the middle of the month: “I just left Tesla’s design studio. By the end of the year, you will see an epic demonstration, the best.” However, he did not reveal what product it was.
Moravi said the team has spent a lot of time over the past few years thinking about what it has built so far and why, as well as what would make the car great and exciting, the best for drivers.
“The Roadster has to be the best, and we’re making it better and better,” Moravi added, revealing that Musk was a bit excited after the demonstration was shown to the team.
“It’s a little bit more than a car. We showed Elon some great demonstrations last week, which are related to the technology we’re working on. He was excited,” he revealed.
In February, Moravi said that Musk had ordered the team to go “a step further,” and the team realized it could do more than previously thought.
Moravi joined Tesla in February 2010 as a senior engineer for chassis design and development. He was promoted to vice president of vehicle engineering in 2019, after holding five different roles within the department.
