JLR has issued a stop-sale and voluntary recall for select Range Rover, Defender, and Discovery models due to a potential driver’s airbag defect. While no incidents have been reported, owners should contact local dealerships for updates while JLR works to resolve the issue.

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has initiated a voluntary recall for select Range Rover, Defender, and Discovery models due to a potential defect identified in the driver’s side airbag system. Although no incidents have been reported, JLR is collaborating with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to implement an official repair campaign. Owners are advised to contact their local authorized dealership to verify their vehicle’s status and receive further guidance while awaiting formal recall notifications.

Recent reports from Automotive News indicate that Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) recorded an annual after-tax loss of approximately $325 million, with wholesale sales declining by 23 percent to 307,915 vehicles. Warranty expenditures reached approximately $139 million, and current projections for 2026 suggest continued financial pressure. This follows previous setbacks, including investigations into faulty suspensions for over 100,000 Range Rover SUVs in April and the recall of 170,000 mild-hybrid vehicles due to issues with DC-DC converters.

While the latest airbag-related recall presents additional financial implications for the manufacturer, there is optimism that the recent partnership with Stellantis will enhance long-term product reliability, particularly with the development of a new Defender model tailored for the American market. We will continue to monitor this situation and provide updates as they become available; in the interim, owners are advised to contact their authorized dealership to determine if their vehicles are affected.
