Lagos Test-Runs Red Line Rail Ahead Of Official Opening (Video)
LAMATA begins the first of many test runs along the 37-km Red Line Rail ahead of start of operation in Q1 of 2024.
One of the diesel-powered trains that will serve the Red Line Rail Mass Transit project was deployed during the test-run.
Test-runs will allow LAMATA to assess its operational readiness and fix possible problems before the start of operations.
The Lagos State Government, through the Lagos State Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), has began the first of many test runs along the 37-km Red Line Rail ahead of start of operation in the first quarter (Q1) of 2024.
A video shared by LAMATA on its official social media pages shows the deployment of one of the high-speed diesel-powered trains that will serve the Lagos Red Line Rail Mass Transit project.
“From the horizon emerges one of the Red Line Train sets just ahead of the launch of Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Red Line”, LAMATA said in the video caption.
This test-run and several others that will follow will allow LAMATA to assess its operational readiness and fix possible problems before the start of operations in few weeks.
Recall that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had last week announced the procurement of additional rolling stocks (trains) for the Lagos Blue Line and Red Line Rail operations.
“I am pleased to announce that we have secured additional trains- rolling stocks for the Blue Line and Red Line rail operations, aimed at providing relief to millions of Lagos residents,” Sanwo-Olu said during his tour of China.
“These new rolling stocks are expected to arrive at different points of the year, thanks to our team’s efforts and our partners’ collaboration.”
