Liverpool Star Diogo Jota, brother dies in car crash after their Lamborghini swerved of the road, bursts into flames.

The siblings were headed to Santander to catch a ferry to Britain when the tyre of their car blew out while overtaking.

Wreckage suggested that the siblings were driving an acid green Lamborghini Huracan that has a top speed of in excess of 200mph.

World mourns as Portuguese and Liverpool star Diogo Jota and his younger brother Andre Silva lost their lives in the early hours of Thursday when the Lamborghini they were driving in veered off the road, rolled and then burst into flames.

According to report, the siblings were headed to Santander to catch a ferry to Britain when they lost control of the wheel while overtaking on the A-52 at Cernadilla near Zamora due to a tyre blowout.

CNN Portugal’s sports editor Rui Loura said : “The surgery he had was lung surgery and he had been advised against flying following this.”

“He was on his way to the northern Spanish port city of Santander to cross by ferry and reach the UK that way and carry on with the car once he reached Britain. He was on his way to Liverpool with his brother.”





The Lamborghini crash comes just 10 days after the 28 year old Liverpool forward married his long-term girlfriend and mother of his three children, Rute Cardoso, in his home city of Porto on June 22.

“The information we have so far is that the car, which was a Lamborghini, was in a road traffic accident and left the road due to a tyre blowout while overtaking,” Spanish Guardia Civil said in a statement.

”It was in the early hours, 00:30 local time (23:30 BST), in the municipality of Cernadilla in the province of Zamora… The car caught on fire and the two occupants were killed.”

Footage taken after the accident scene shows a wreckage that suggested that siblings were driving an acid green Lamborghini Huracan Evo Spyder that can go from 0-60 mph in 3.1 seconds and reach a top speed of in excess of 200-mph.

Born Diogo Silva, Jota was part of Liverpool’s Premier League-winning side in the 2024/25 campaign while his younger brother Andre Silva played for Penafiel in the second tier of Portuguese football.
