Mercedes-Benz E-Class L (LWB) Model Teased, Set For Chinese And Indian Markets
Mercedes-Benz unveiled the new-generation E-Class sedan in the European market just last month. Now, images of the sedan’s long wheelbase (LWB) variant have been revealed online via a set of images.
Much like the C-Class L launched a couple of years ago in China, its bigger brother is going to get a classic grille design and a hood ornament. Revealing photos have been published on the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s website as part of the vehicle’s homologation process. Mercedes didn’t introduce the E-Class L at last month’s Auto Shanghai 2023, so the local premiere is likely to take place in the coming months.
In terms of dimensions, the new E-Class LWB measures 5,092mm in length, 1,880mm in width, 1,493mm in height, and has a 3,094 mm-long wheelbase. In comparison to the standard E-Class, the new LWB model has a 133mm longer wheelbase, providing the rear passengers with extra legroom. Visually, there’s. no difference between the LWB E-Class and the standard version.
On the inside, the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB resonates a lot with EQS and EQE. Mercedes-Benz offers a large touchscreen infotainment screen in the middle and an optional passenger screen in top models. Unlike in EQS, the new E-Class has its instrumentation screen separated from the Hyperscreen setup.
As for power, Mercedes will sell the more spacious E-Class as an E 260 L with 201 hp along with an E 300 L rated at 255 hp. Both have a turbocharged 2.0-liter gasoline engine. The base version will top out at 146 mph whereas the more potent variant will reach 152 mph.
The E-Class L will go up against other luxury saloons that have had their wheelbases stretched for greater rear legroom: Jaguar XFL, BMW 5 Series Li, Audi A6L, and the oddball A7L sedan.
