Mercedes-Benz sold 499,700 Cars and Vans between January and March 2026, sees strong demand for new models.

499,700 Mercedes-Benz cars and vans was sold by the German Group in the first quarter (Q1) of 2026, which is a decline of almost 21 percent compared to the total 529,200 units sold between January and March of 2025.

Sales at Mercedes-Benz Cars reached 419,400 in the first quarter (-6% VS Q1 2025), which is an increase of 5% excluding China sales, while sales of Mercedes-Benz Vans decreased by 3.14 percent to 80,300 units (82,900 in Q1 2025).

Battery-electric vehicle sales increased by 11% in Q1 2026, thanks to strong demand for newly launched models, especially the all-new electric CLA which allowed strong BEV growth in Europe (+34%) and Germany (+36%).

The Top-End segment took 15% share in the first quarter, thanks to demand for Mercedes-AMG driven by the E 53 HYBRID 4MATIC+ Saloon and Estate (+43%) and the CLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupé and Cabriolet (+32%).

Despite a decline in sales in China in Q1 due to planned phase-out of current models, particularly the flagship S-Class, Mercedes-Benz maintained its leading position in the vehicle segment priced above 1 million RMB.

“The first quarter was characterised by sales growth outside of China, alongside an excellent market response to our newly launched models,” said Mathias Geisen, who heads the Marketing & Sales department for Mercedes Group.

Despite a 3 percent decline in the first quarter, sales of eVans grew by 29% compared to the previous year’s quarter, leading to a slightly increased global EV share of 8% (Q1 2025: 6%)

During this period, Mercedes-Benz presented several new models, including the new S-Class and its Maybach variant, the new GLE, GLE Coupe and GLS as well as the all-new electric VLE, which combines limousine-like ride and handling with MPV-style versatility.

“The new electric GLC has generated more orders in the first three months than any other electric vehicle in our history, while order intakes for the other new models, including the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class, significantly exceed our expectations. Further tailwinds will come from the recently unveiled GLE and GLS, alongside the upcoming world premiere of the all-new electric C-Class”.
