Moment Niger Delta Billionaire Arrived For His 50th Birthday Party In Hongqi Guoli Worth N2.5 Billion

Billionaire business magnate and Chairman of MATON Engineering Nigeria Limited, Matthew Tonlagha, on Sunday February 8th 2026 hosted a lavish 50th birthday celebration at the International Conference Center in Abuja.

Trending video online seen by Autojosh shows the moment the celebrant arrived in grand style at the event in his exclusive Hongqi Guoli ultra-luxury sedan.





The grand celebration brought together a dazzling mix of celebrities, dignitaries and political leaders, including Delta State Governor, Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori.

Based in the Benikrukru Community in the Gbaramatu Kingdom of Delta State, Tonlagha is also the Vice Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL), which provides oil pipeline surveillance in the Niger Delta.

Tonlagha’s Hongqi Guoli was first spotted in Delta State last month, with many Nigerians willing to know the owner of this ultra-exclusive car renowned for being currently the ‘most expensive Chinese-made car ever available for purchase’.

Likely the only one in Africa, this Chinese-built flagship sedan is priced from 7,180,000 Chinese Yuan (over US$ 1 million) in China. but it will cost over N2.5 billion to own in Nigeria, including the cost of shipping and clearing.

Dubbed as the “Rolls-Royce of China”, the Guoli, which means “national gift”, boasts giant vertical waterfall-style grille and a distinct round headlights which Hongqi says is inspired by the Chinese cultural tradition of “the sky is round and the earth is square”.





Before its availability in markets outside China, the Guoli, then known as the L5, was aimed at Chinese billionaire businessmen and super stars. It has also being used by President Xi Jinping opting for 18-foot armored Hongqi limousine, codenamed N701.
