A German Minister Replaces The Official Electric BMW With An Audi Diesel

North Rhine-Westphalia’s Finance Minister Markus Optendrenk (CDU) has decided to send a message to the public. He has taken a BMW i7 as his official car. However, his job requires a lot of travel and being in a vehicle. Since he could not drive an electric official car over long distances, Optendrenk has now replaced it with a diesel-powered sedan. The minister has been driving an Audi A8 L 50 TDI Quattro for several days now.

“I have experienced that an electric vehicle works well in everyday work in Düsseldorf, but with a busy schedule and long journeys through a country like North Rhine-Westphalia, electric cars run into limits,” Optendrenk told WAZ.

When the lease expired, the minister returned to diesel. It should also be said that a large part of the provincial government remained loyal to electric cars, and this example clearly shows that we live in interesting times and that at least we still have the option of choosing…
