African Association Of Automotive Manufacturers Visits IVM Plant, Witnessed Firsthand Vehicle Production Process
Innoson Vehicles Manufacturing (IVM) on Tuesday August 20th 2024 hosted the African Association of Automotive Manufacturers (AAAM) at its state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Nnewi, Anambra State.
During the visit to IVM plant, the group, led by Mr. Oluwamimo Joseph Osanipin, the Director General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), witnessed firsthand vehicle production process from design to assembly.
“They were impressed by the utilization of advanced quality methodologies and cutting-edge technologies employed at Innoson Vehicles,” the leading automotive manufacturer in Nigeria said in a statement.
President Tinubu Departs For France Aboard Newly Purchased Presidential Jet
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday August 19th departed Abuja, the nation’s capital, for Paris, France aboard the newly purchased presidential jet, the Airbus A330-243 with registration 5N-FGA.
Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to president Tinubu on Information and Strategy, made known on his official X handle on Monday. According to Onanuga, the new Airbus A330 replaces the 19-year-old Boeing B737-700(BBJ) bought under the Presidency of President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Onanuga noted that new plane was bought far below the market price, adding that it will save Nigeria huge maintenance and fuel costs, running into millions of dollars yearly.
Gbajabiamila Test-Drove NASENI’s Electric Pickup, Commends Agency’s Product Innovations
Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, has commended the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) for its technological advancements, product innovations and interventions in various sectors of the economy.
Gbajabiamila stated this during a familiarisation visit to the Agency on August 21st 2024, where he met with Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of NASENI, Mr Khalil Halilu, and test-drove an electric pickup van built by the Agency.
During his visit, he also visited NASENI’s Hatch Box, Innovation Hub, Solar Irrigation Pump, and was shown new products built by the agency including Home Solar, Prepaid Meters, Laptops and Batteries.
Customs Oyo/Osun Command Intercepts 2,290 Used Car Tyres
The Nigeria Customs Service Oyo/Osun Area Command said it intercepted 2,290 pieces of used car tyres along Saki Axis during a recent operation to curb smuggling activities in the region.
This was made known in a statement signed by the Command’s PRO, Superintendent of Customs, Kayode Wey, on behalf of Customs Area Controller (CAC) Comptroller Ben Oramalugo.
Comptroller Ben Oramalugo stated that importing and smuggling used tyres into Nigeria is illegal due to the significant risks they pose to public safety. He highlighted that worn-out tyres are unsafe for road use, and their circulation endangers lives and property.
