Next-Generation Toyota RAV4 Spied In China
After almost seven years, the current Toyota RAV4 is nearing the end of its life cycle, with a new (sixth) generation expected by the end of this year.
However, one image, initially posted by several users on the Chinese social network Weibo, purportedly shows the new RAV4.
Users claim that the new RAV4 was filmed at a dealer conference in China where products from the GAC-Toyota joint venture were discussed.
This means that the SUV in the picture could still be the new Toyota Wildlander for the Chinese market (a very close relative of the RAV4), which is expected to be unveiled at the Shanghai Motor Show in April.
The TNGA-K platform is expected to feature a strong focus on hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains with a longer EV range, potentially up to 130 km in a PHEV. It’s a big question mark whether Toyota will offer a fully electric version this time around, but a report from Japan’s Creative Trend suggests it will.
