Onu, who further stated the advantages of science, technology and engineering are numerous. He appealed teachers and school administrators to encourage the younger students.

According to the Minister, “It’s said that Students after reading the school’s anthem started mentioning the professions that they will like to pursue. However, not even one of them mentioned engineering.

“It will also be very sad if this school don’t have young people aspiring to become engineers. Nigeria government have plans to send people to space.

“Yes, we have that plan; don’t ever think it cannot be done, it may take 20 years, 30 years. Yet, I will be very happy to see somebody go into space but with the help of science and engineering.

“First, we started with agricultural products and later with petroleum products; crude oil and natural gas without adding anything,” the minister said.
