No Charging Stations, Bad Roads : Filmmaker Queries The Need For Tesla Cybertruck After Seeing One In Ibadan - autojosh

No charging stations, bad roads: Nigerian filmmaker laments after spotting Tesla Cybertruck in Ibadan.

Queried the need for the N300m Cybertruck despite “no stable electricity, no charging stations and terrible roads”.

Unavailability charging stations and range anxiety still the most significant concerns holding Nigerians back from switching to Electric Vehicles.

Tesla Cybertruck’s drive ranges between 300 miles and 325 miles – though an optional “Range Extender” can add 125 miles to the total range.

Stephen Ndukwu, a Nigerian filmmaker and content curator, has wondered why Nigerians loves spending fortunes on luxuries despite the unavailability of infrastructures that will get them going.

The 30 year media entrepreneur made this claim after sighting a Tesla Cybertruck pickup truck worth N300 million reportedly parked in “someone’s village in Ibadan”.

Steven queried the need for the Tesla Cybertruck pickup truck despite the unavailability of charging stations needed to charge Battery-Electric Vehicles (BEVs) across Nigeria.

Sharing photos taken with the Tesla Cybertruck, he wrote :

“Nigerians will import luxury before infrastructure. No stable electricity, no charging stations, terrible roads, but somehow a Cybertruck is chilling at a backyard in someone’s village in Ibadan. Priorities on premium madness ?”.

While its likely that the owner of this Cybertruck have their own charging infrastructure, Autojosh notes that unavailability of charging stations, range anxiety and price premium (over petrol propulsion) are still the most significant concerns holding Nigerians back from switching to Electric Vehicles (EVs).

Tesla Cybertruck’s range varies by trim, with base Rear-Wheel-Drive (RWD) model offering up to 325 miles while the most powerful model, the Cyberbeast, offers about 300 miles on a single charge – though an optional “Range Extender” can add 125 miles to the total range.
