Oil rich Dubai in United Arab Emirates continues to maintain its status as the home to most of the most expensive car number plate in the world after a ‘P7‘ plate was sold for a world-record Dh55 million ($15 million).
All the proceeds from the auction will support the “1 Billion Meals Endowment” campaign aimed at establishing the largest Ramadan sustainable food aid endowment fund.
The amount the unnamed wealthy buyer splashed on the P7 number plate smashes the Dh52 million ($14 million) a collector, Saeed Abdul Ghaffar Khouri, paid to own the ‘1’ registration plate in 2008 during a number plate auction by Emirates Auction Company.
To put the earth-shattering price the buyer paid for the P7 number plate into perspective, you could buy 5 brand new Bugatti Chiron hypercars, which starts at $3 Million before customization.
During the auction, the $15 million P7 license plate was affixed to limited-edition Bugatti Divo hypercar worth $5.9 million, though the vanity plate may end up being used by an equally expensive car like the Divo.
