LAMATA begin partial, non-fee-paying passenger operations of the Red Line on Wednesday, 28th August 2024.
During the trial run, the Red Line will operate four daily trips between between Oyingbo in Lagos and Agbado in Ogun.
The Red Line trains will adhere strictly to their schedules during the trial run to ensure order and efficiency.
The Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Red Line is expected to run 20 daily trips between Oyingbo and Agbado and carry over half a million (500,000) passengers per day once full passenger operation commences.
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, made this known via a statement on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday, while announcing the official kick off Red Line invitational passenger operations.
“The Red Line Rail has officially kicked off its invitational passenger operations. This achievement represents a major advancement in reshaping public transportation in Lagos, bringing us closer to a modern, efficient, and interconnected city.”
It will be recalled that the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) begin partial, non-fee-paying passenger operations of the Red Line on Wednesday, 28th August 2024.
During the trial run, the Red Line, operated by LAMATA, will operate four daily trips between between Oyingbo in Lagos State and Agbado in Ogun State.
“This essential route will not only facilitate commuting for thousands but also alleviate congestion and enhance the quality of life for our residents,” Sanwo-Olu said in a statement.
Sanwo-Olu, who shared a link to allow willing Lagosians to register to part in the invitational rides, noted that “this initial passenger operation allows us to continually assess the system’s safety, reliability, and efficiency, while gathering valuable feedback from passengers.”
According to the timetable shared, the Red Line trains will depart from Oyingbo at 8:30 AM in the morning, making stops at key stations such as Yaba, Mushin, Oshodi, Ikeja, Agege, before arriving at Agbado by 9:37 AM.
The trains will adhere strictly to their schedules during the trial run to ensure order and efficiency in the Red Line rail services, according to the Lagos State Governor.
