Sanwo-Olu Takes Part In Lagos Boat Regatta, Which Showcases The Beauty Of Lagos Waterways
Sanwo-Olu and his Deputy takes part in Lagos Boat Regatta 2024 held at five Cowries Creek held on Saturday 21st December.
The iconic event was organized by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture and themed “Our Water, Our Heritage, Our Life”.
During the iconic event, Lagos waterways was transformed into a dazzling spectacle of creativity, tradition, and unity.


Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu alongside his wife, Dr. Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, on Saturday 21st December 2024 took part in the Lagos Boat Regatta 2024, which was held at Five Cowries Creek, Lagos.
During the iconic event organized by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture and themed “Our Water, Our Heritage, Our Life”, Lagos waterways was transformed into a dazzling spectacle of creativity, tradition, and unity.

“The boat regatta embodies our essence and signifies a transformation and revival of our culture. It showcases our unwavering commitment to developing tourism in Lagos through our waterways”, Sanwo-Olu said in a statement on his official X page
“With one-third of Lagos surrounded by water, it is essential to utilize our waterways not only as a mode of transportation but also as a vital ecosystem for tourism.”


Speaking further on the boat ride,, Sanwo-Olu said : We witnessed displays of various sizes of water infrastructure and boat regattas from the five divisions of Lagos. We had a great time, lots of fun and gained a greater appreciation for the beauty our waterways offer.”
Also in attendance were wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat and Commissioner for Tourism, Arts & Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, who stated that the regatta is a testament to Lagosians’ commitment to preserving their heritage and fostering tourism.
