Several American Names (As Well As A Brand) Are Dusted Off By Stellantis

Stellantis has concluded its Investors’ Day, and quite a bit of interesting news emerged. For instance, there is a slightly adjusted division of roles for the various brands, a new modular platform called STLA One is coming, and we have already briefly examined the plans of PeugeotCitroën, and Opel. Naturally, the American brands also received some attention on Thursday. As you have come to expect from us, we like to provide you with as comprehensive information as possible, so we will go through that briefly as well.

Chrysler

Stellantis originated from PSA and FCA, and notably, the C of FCA has been a rather neglected and marginalized brand for years. We are, of course, talking about Chrysler. It currently sells only the Pacifica and, despite previously announced future plans, seems almost on its deathbed. The last concrete piece of Chrysler’s future vision was the Chrysler Halcyon Concept from 2024. Now, there is finally a much clearer sign of life regarding new production models.

Chrysler reports that three new models will be added by 2030: the Chrysler Airflow, the Chrysler Arrow and Arrow Cross. The former may well be a successor to the eponymous concept car from 2022, while the two Arrows are still somewhat vague. They may build more on the design language we saw on the Halcyon. In any case, all three will be relatively compact SUV-like vehicles, likely based on Stellantis’s mentioned new platform, which can be used for EVs and hybrids.

Dodge and Ram

Sister brand Dodge is also introducing a new SUV, which will be called the GLM. A smaller sibling to the Dodge Durango, this model will presumably also be available as an EV and a hybrid. Just like the Chrysler, we do not expect this one in Europe, and that applies even more so to the announced sporty Dodge Copperhead, which will likely follow in the footsteps of the Viper. That promises to be interesting!

At Ram, they are dusting off two familiar names from the past for models intended to significantly boost sales figures. To start with, a Ram Dakota is on the way, a slightly smaller sibling to the Ram 1500. When it comes to pickup options, the Americans can never have enough. The Ramcharger (formerly a Dodge, just like the Dakota) is also making a comeback. Logically, this will be a substantial body-on-frame SUV based on the already used STLA frame platform. Be sure to keep an eye on the Ram Dakota; it might just be heading this way. The even smaller (though that is relative, of course) Ram Rampage is also coming to Europe.

Jeep

Of all these brands, Jeep is currently the most relevant in Europe, but regarding plans, things remained fairly quiet at Jeep last Thursday. At least, as far as is currently being shared, it has only one new model planned until 2030. That is the Jeep Wrangler Scrambler. The Scrambler name has also been used before, specifically for the CJ-8 from the early 1980s. If it follows the same recipe, it will likely be a Gladiator with two instead of four doors.
