Tesla Is Recalling Over 9,000 Cars In The Us Due To Risk Of Parts Falling Off the Roof

Tesla is recalling over 9,000 cars in the US due to a part of the roof that could detach from the vehicle and increase the risk of an accident. This is a rare case of this manufacturer recalling a car due to a physical defect, although the company has already recalled millions of vehicles this year for other reasons.
The recall affects the 2016 Model X, according to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
SUVs have a cosmetic trim on the front of the roof, behind the windshield, as well as another in the centre of the roof. Both can weaken and separate from the vehicle over time, increasing the risk of injury or an accident, regulators say.
Tesla said they launched an investigation back in September 2020 after becoming aware of an “incident” involving the Model X. It was later discovered that the parts were attached with insufficient coating.
Contacting the owner of the vehicle follows
A voluntary recall of the car was issued in November of the same year, but Tesla says that the repairs carried out during that period were also insufficient.
All drivers affected by this notice will be contacted by October 14, the company says, adding that car dealerships will offer free inspections and repairs.
The company Tesla recalled as many as 2.5 million cars in the first six months of this year. Only Ford withdrew more – 3.6 million, according to NHTSA data.
