The Electric Mercedes G-Class Carries Trophy Back To Golf Championship “The Open”
Ahead of start of 152nd Open Championship, the golf trophy was brought back in an electric Mercedes G-Class.
The winner of The 151st Open drove in the new electric G-Class and handed over the Claret Jug to the organizers.
Mercedes-Benz, which provided the electric G-Class, has been an official Patron of The Open since 2011.
The German car giant also provided Mercedes shuttle fleet for selected guests, players and officials at the event.
American professional golfer, Xander Schauffele, emerged winner of the 2024 Open Championship held at the Royal Troon Golf Club in Troon, Scotland between 18–21 July 2024.
The 30-year-old Champion Golfer of the Year not only lifted the Claret Jug during the 152nd Open Championship but also claimed the $3.1 million winner’s check.

Ahead of the first tee-off, Brian Harman, the defending champion brought the iconic golf trophy back to The Open for the ‘Return of the Claret Jug’ in an all-electric Mercedes-Benz G-Class.
Harman, the winner of The 151st Open, drove to Troon in the new electric G-Class and handed over the Claret Jug to Martin Slumbers, CEO of The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, which organizes the Championship.
